Community Headlines | Check out the latest local updates from your community | | Volunteer Opportunities: FEBRUARY 25 - Adult Literacy Tutor Training -- Seeds of Literacy is looking for volunteers wanting to tutor adults in process of obtaining a GED. Training is required and will take place Saturday February 25th and Saturday March 24th. Volunteers only need to attend one session; all are from 9am-2pm. | ONGOING- Orchid Mania 2012 - Cleveland Botanical Garden, Wade Oval, Cleveland, OH 44114. Hundreds of bold, fragrant, blooming orchids will be on display throughout the Garden and in the naturalistic setting of the Garden's Costa Rica Glasshouse.
THROUGH FEBRUARY 29 - North into Freedom: The John Malvin Story, East Cleveland Public Library, 14101 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland - Exhibit featuring forgotten African American heroes from Cleveland and Ohio. All month in the Flewellen Room.
FEBRUARY 24 - Press Club of Cleveland: Meet Russ Mitchell Luncheon - Hilton Garden Inn, 1100 Carnegie Ave., Cleveland, OH 44115. The Press Club of Cleveland will host a special program, "From CBS to Cleveland" to extend a warm Cleveland welcome to Russ Mitchell, new Lead Anchor of the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts and Managing Editor Evening News at WKYC-TV 3. Most recently, Mitchell was anchor of the CBS Evening News weekend editions and The Early Show on Saturday, as well as former national correspondent for CBS News Sunday Morning, the CBS Evening News, and The Early Show. He joined the WKYC staff on January 16.
